We Can Repurpose Flab to Give You a Great Rear End!

We are all born with our own particular body types and genetically defined shapes. No matter how hard we exercise, some parts of our bodies just can’t be shaped and/or sized the way we want them to.

We can try working out specific parts of our bodies to get them to look the way we want, but, beyond a certain point, genetic restrictions play a part in keeping us from our goals. One area that is particularly subject to this is the buttocks. Some people are blessed with a round, shapely buttock while others are genetically predisposed to a less contoured shape, like flat or sagging buttocks.

Thankfully, with modern technological advances, we are able to augment and/or reshape our buttocks using fat from other parts of our bodies. This allows patients to reshape and improve both areas in one procedure. It’s a win-win situation!

Butt Augmentation With Fat Injections

Butt augmentation using one’s own fat is more popularly known as the Ultra BBL™. This surgical procedure involves a process known as fat grafting or fat transfer. It requires the use of liposuction to harvest fat from areas of the body where there is excess fat and inject it into the buttocks, maybe even the outer hips.

This surgery can help give the butt a more pronounced and rounded look. The liposuction is usually done under local anesthesia, but the surgeon may suggest general anesthesia if required.

During the treatment process, the surgeon will carefully remove excess fat from the chosen area (usually the abdomen or the thighs) using very low suction, low-gauge needles, and slim cannulas because the integrity of the fat cells need to be preserved in order for it to be viable for reinjection.

The harvested fat is then purified using a centrifuge and filtered for any impurities. The processed fat is then injected into the buttocks in a delicate manner, making sure that it is re-vascularized (receives blood supply in the grafted area). The entire procedure normally takes around 2 hours.

Recovery And Results

Patients may experience some bruising for about 2 weeks and swelling may take up to around 6 weeks, during which time sitting on your rear end should be avoided. A compression garment will be applied after the surgery to provide protection as well as help control the bruising and swelling. It will also help the newly reshaped area set properly.

It is normal to experience some discomfort after the surgery, but your doctor can prescribe medication to help make it more manageable. The compression garment will be removed in 2 weeks’ time, after which regular activities can be resumed.

However, it is advised that any strenuous activity, like exercise, and sitting on the buttocks for long periods of time should only be resumed at least 4 weeks after surgery. Swelling in the liposuction area may last for a few months, but that is normal.

Results will be clearly visible after the swelling reduces. For full results, you will have to wait for around two months. Since grafted fat is natural, the results of the procedure can last very long, so long as the fat receives a proper blood supply.
