Men: Stop Feeling Embarrassed About Taking Your Shirt Off in Public

If you think that women are the only ones who feel self-conscious about their bodies, you have it all wrong. Most men with “man boobs” dread the summer season, because summer means that they will be spending long hours at the beach or hanging out by the pool with friends without a shirt.

Men with man boobs tend to feel uncomfortable exposing their chest and often feel embarrassed taking off their shirts. Male breast reduction is the solution for all those men who feel self-conscious.

Gynecomastia – What Is It?

The condition involving the enlargement of a man’s breasts is called gynecomastia. Enlarged breasts among teenagers can be due to the changing levels of sex hormones, which is 90% of cases will resolve as they grow up. However, that is not the case with adult men.

Even though this condition does not pose any health threat, it can create a lot of embarrassment and emotional distress and can have a huge negative impact on a man’s self-esteem. Gynecomastia can be corrected with male breast reduction.

Male Breast Reduction – The Procedure

The surgery can be performed as an outpatient procedure with minimal downtime. Men with excess fatty tissue can use the liposuction procedure to reduce their breasts. After a long hollow tube called a cannula is inserted into an incision, it is moved back and forth along the fat layer, dislodging stubborn fat cells. These cells are removed with medical suction.

Men with excess glandular breast tissue can use the excision technique to reduce their breasts. During this, incisions are made and then excess glandular tissue and skin are removed. The incisions are closed using sutures.

A combination of these techniques will be required in some cases. It all depends on whether the patient has more excess fat or glandular breast tissue. Minor tenderness, nausea, swelling, and bruising may be present after the procedure. Dr. Pazmiño will recommend ways to deal with these.

How Can I Qualify For Male Breast Reduction?

You can qualify for a breast-reduction surgery if:

  • You are stable and emotionally and physically strong.

  • You are at your ideal body weight.

  • You are struggling with this condition in one or both breasts.

  • You are above 18 years of age. Teenagers who are still in the stage of puberty have to wait, since the condition may go away on its own.

  • Your skin has good elasticity.

Male breast reduction is not recommended if you are unhealthy or have any serious medical condition. Make sure you talk to Dr. Pazmiño in detail so that you do not have unrealistic expectations.

You will be expected to provide a detailed medical history before you undergo a male breast reduction. This enables Dr. Pazmiño to evaluate your condition in detail and check for a series of medical conditions that may have caused gynecomastia.

The possible causes of breast enlargement among men include liver dysfunction, use of steroids and medications with estrogen, excessive drinking, and smoking marijuana. Genetics is usually the cause of the condition.
